Repurposed Designer Pieces from 512 Jewelry

One of my favorite movements right now is repurposed designer jewelry. Essentially, jewelry designers take buttons, charms, or other hardware from vintage designer pieces and repurpose them to create a whole new look. This is great because it means that pre-loved pieces can have a new life as a different accessory, minimizing waste. It’s also great because repurposed designer pieces are often a fraction of the cost of the originals!

I found 512 Jewelry through social media and immediately fell in love. I had been looking to add some repurposed Chanel pieces to my closet, and all of the designs on their site were so gorgeous. I patiently waited for a restock on some of my favorite pieces, and managed to snag all of them the same day! Score!

I bought a pair of gold hoops, a lock necklace (which I had been on the hunt for lately anyways, with or without the Chanel logo), and a rhinestone-studded Chanel charm made into a necklace. These pieces instantly spice up any outfit, and I’m looking forward to wearing them all season long!

My Tips for shopping 512 Jewelry

1. Act fast

If you’re on the 512 Jewelry website and you see something you like, buy it right then. Their super popular pieces can sell out in minutes, so don’t waste time if you know you want that piece. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck waiting and hoping for a restock on that particular item.

2. Missed out? Follow along on social

Did you miss a restock? Follow along on social to see when the next one will be. 512 Jewelry is good at announcing restock dates in advance, so if you know you’re looking to add a special out-of-stock item to your collection, keep your eyes peeled for any update announcements.

3. Check back often

If it’s a small restock, it’s possible they won’t announce it on social. Check back often to see if what you want appears in-stock again. And again, if you see it- buy it!

4. Orders $100+ qualify for free shipping!

Orders over $100 (typically 2 or more pieces) qualify for free shipping! Save your $$$ and buy in bulk, if you have your eye on more than one piece, of course. Happy shopping!

P.S. Currently obsessed with my headband– you can find it at Target!

All Tied Up: An OOTD

It’s getting hot in Texas, so I’m always looking for easy-breezy outfits to choose on days I need to be out and about running errands. This is one of my new favs! The silky top is super lightweight and keeps me super cool, and the shorts are stretchy and comfortable. Paired with my wedge sandals that are meant to provide a comfortable walking experience, this outfit is perfect for the days that I’m on the go!

I always struggled with wearing tie-front shirts because I felt like my bra was always showing, but recently I saw a TikTok that showed how to tie the front around your bra to completely stop that from happening. A game-changer for sure!

Crocodile Rock: Styling Unconventional Animal Print

I’ve always been a sucker for traditional animal prints like leopard and cheetah, but recently I’ve been drawn to less common animal prints, as well. Snakeskin, crocodile- basically everything is fair game for my closet. While leopard is fairly classic and easy to style, I’ve found it’s a little harder to put together a look that incorporates an untraditional print.

When styling something like crocodile print, I’ve found that it works best to lean into the edginess it inherently possess. Mom jeans aren’t the move here- a fitted skirt is my go-to and what I have found works best. High-waisted shorts (not too baggy!) could be a viable option, as well. I love this light-wash skirt from Target because it provides a nice color contrast to the black shirt. My Adidas sneakers help tie some black back into the bottom of my outfit, rounding everything out.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Top: Black Stand Collar Crocodile Shirt – SHEIN
Skirt: Women’s Seamed Denim Mini Skirt – Wild Fable
Shoes: Grand Court Sneaker – Adidas

I’ve already purchased snakeskin and crocodile-print shirts- is there anything else I should consider adding to my wardrobe? I never met an animal print I didn’t love, so I’m open to any and all suggestions!

Hey Macklemore

Happy 2020! That feels so weird to say, since I’ve known that was going to be my undergraduate graduation year for basically forever. That means college degree 1 of 2 is that much closer!

I stayed in pajamas at home all day yesterday, ringing in the new year with cinnamon rolls and bacon, watching copious amounts of college football and taking time to relax with my family. (We believe that New Year’s resolutions like healthier eating don’t come into affect until January 2.) That means that today’s #OOTD is the first of the new year!

As soon as I put my leopard coat on, I could feel myself channeling major Macklemore vibes. This one didn’t come from a thrift shop, but I felt funky just the same. I know this coat is going to be one of my go-tos this winter and early spring!

Also, today I broke out some liquid matte lipstick that was part of a Christmas gift! I had been skeptical about liquid lipstick for a long time, but I’m absolutely obsessed with this set and their matching lip liners. Cheers to more adventurous fashion and beauty choices in 2020!

Seeing Spots

Do you ever like an outfit so much that you make up excuses to leave the house so other people can see it, too? That was me with this spotty #OOTD. I had initially intended just to wear this at home on my day off, but once I had it on I knew I wanted to show it off.

So off I went, making a quick 1 mile drive off to the nearest shopping mall, where I made a beeline to the Forever 21. I mildly disliked Forever 21 throughout my entire adolescence, but I’ve been growing more fond of it lately. (Is that what inevitably happens when your 21st birthday comes around?) Either way, I ended up finding a ton of cute new clothes while I was out! I’m excited to showcase them here in the coming weeks.

I have friends coming in town this weekend, and I’m so excited for the activities we have planned. Stay tuned for the details!
