Cable Knit: Styling Sweater Vests

I’ve already talked about my love of the preppy style resurgence once on the blog, but today I’m focusing on a different preppy style trend: sweater vests! I made many trips to local thrift stores before finding one to add to my collection. I’ve found that they key to styling sweater vests is making sure they have v-neck neckline. I’m usually against v-necks, but they work so well with this style and adding a collared shirt underneath!

When styling your own sweater vest, you could also pair it with a pleated or flared skirt, but I chose to style mine with jeans since it was a crisp 38 degrees when doing this shoot. I also think the jeans make it so wearable and cute for day-to-day activities! To really play up the preppy vibe, I added a pearl choker and green marble hair clip.

Rumor Has It: Styling Street Style

One of my favorite trends from 2020 has been adding elements of street style into my wardrobe. It used to intimidate me, but as I experimented more I realized how easy it is to put together an effortlessly-chic streetwear look. I love these outfits for days when I’m out running errands or just lounging around at home. They are super versatile and work for a lot of different situations!

When I first start styling a street style outfit, I like to stick to items in a black and white color scheme. This is easy, as many of my trendier pieces tend to lean black and white anyways. For my own personal take on street style, I always choose a more “athletic” piece as the staple. For today’s look, it was my biker shorts. I’ve been living in these lately and I knew they would be the perfect foundation for this outfit. I then chose my black puffer jacket and paired it with a white turtleneck for some contrast. To tie everything together, I accessorized with my chic gold hoops, nylon crossbody, and chunky Filas. Casual, cute, and so comfortable!

I hope biker shorts don’t go out of style any time soon because I’ve been loving them, even in winter. I just think they’re such a fresh take on leggings and are super flattering!

Welcoming Winter: An OOTD

November is almost over and Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means winter is officially on the way! I’m home in Texas for the holidays which means I’m getting slightly warmer weather than I would back in Oklahoma, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t getting cold here, too. After several days of 70-degree weather, this morning I was able to add a sweater to my #OOTD and start bundling up a little more.

Sweaters (especially turtleneck sweaters) are my fave during the winter. I paired my classic white turtleneck sweater with jeans, booties, and a velvet newsboy cap for a super easy winter look. I also appreciate that the hat helps to keep my ears warm when the wind starts picking up!

Mad For Plaid: An OOTD

You ever feel like dressing up “just because”? That was me this morning. No plans, no errands to run. I just felt like putting on a cute outfit and feeling good about myself. I snagged this Urban Outfitters romper one of my first days on the job at Uptown Cheapskate, and I’ve been looking for a reason to wear it ever since. As you can see, I eventually decided I don’t always need a reason to wear my favorite clothes. Simply wanting to is reason enough.

I wanted to keep this look pretty classic, so I decided to stick to the greyscale color scheme and accessorize with simple black accessories. I’m in love with the new bag I got from JW PEI and hope to add some more styles to my collection in the future. I feel like it added just the right amount of “extra” to my outfit!

Romper: Plaid Romper – Urban Outfitters

For those of you who have been following along for a while, you may have noticed that this romper looks familiar to the dress I wore for my blog’s first anniversary shoot. I’m in love with plaid, so even though I recognized that I already had a similar item in my closet, I caved and bought this romper anyways. Do you have any prints or patterns that you’re drawn to over and over again? Let me know in the comments so I feel less alone!

All Tied Up: An OOTD

It’s getting hot in Texas, so I’m always looking for easy-breezy outfits to choose on days I need to be out and about running errands. This is one of my new favs! The silky top is super lightweight and keeps me super cool, and the shorts are stretchy and comfortable. Paired with my wedge sandals that are meant to provide a comfortable walking experience, this outfit is perfect for the days that I’m on the go!

I always struggled with wearing tie-front shirts because I felt like my bra was always showing, but recently I saw a TikTok that showed how to tie the front around your bra to completely stop that from happening. A game-changer for sure!

Made A List, Checked It Twice

And just like that, all my Christmas shopping for 2019 is complete! Considering it’s still a full week before Christmas Eve, I’m feeling pretty proud of myself. Now, that’s not to say I don’t still have errands to run- specifically, today I’m picking up some bubbly necessities for my family’s Christmas Eve celebration (if you voted in one of my Instagram polls lately, you might know what I’m talking about. If you don’t… stay tuned!)

I love my heels, but never found them to be very practical for my college #OOTDs, no matter how dressy the outfit is. Luckily, being home means a lot less time on my feet, making heels the perfect addition to my errand-running ensemble!

I was also super excited to break out my new winter coat. I have a long brown coat from last year that I just adore, but I knew I needed a black one to add to my collection as well. For its blog debut, I paired it with all-black everything, minus the heels, of course.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Purse: Black Geometric Crossbody (similar)
Coat: Black Coat – Hearts & Roses
Sweater: Black Sweater – Old Navy
Belt: Loop Belt – Target
Jeans: High-Waisted Rockstar Jeans – Old Navy
Heels: Nude Heels – DSW

While my feet may have been a little cold, overall I was obsessed with this look! I haven’t posted a look with jeans on here in a while, but I hope to start incorporating them more. It’s getting too cold to wear skirts all the time!
