Born on Fifth for Antonio Melani

Today’s blog post is sponsored by Dillard’s, in honor of their new Born on Fifth for Antonio Melani collection hitting the shelves this week! I’ll be showing you my 4 favorite pieces from the collection and hopefully give you some inspo on how you could style these pieces yourself.

1. Camille Tile Print Puffed Sleeve Bow-Back Babydoll Dress

I’m absolutely obsessed with this dress– everything from the square neckline to the puffed sleeves were just calling my name. If you can’t go to Greece, the next best thing is to bring Greece to you with this dress!

You can shop the Camille Tile Print Puffed Sleeve Bow-Back Babydoll Dress here.

2. Alizee Long Sleeve Floral Print Cut-Out Back Midi Dress

I’ve never been much of a maxi dress person (my 5’5″ self seems to always look shorter in them,) but this dress made me realize I should be going for midi dresses instead! I love how it cuts off mid-calf so it can be paired with some white booties. This is THE DRESS for spring!

You can shop the Alizee Long Sleeve Floral Print Cut-Out Back Midi Dress here.

3. Constance Embroidered Eyelet Puff Sleeve Blouse

I love a good lightweight, flowy top for spring and this blouse is perfect! The eyelet detailing is so cute, and it’s perfect to pair with your favorite pair of jeans and sandals.

You can shop the Constance Embroidered Eyelet Puff Sleeve Blouse here.

4. Hanna Floral Poplin Maxi Skirt

This maxi skirt is so flattering! I’m obsessed with just how high-waisted it is, along with the blue china print covering the entire thing. It looks so great paired with a denim jacket and simple white sandals.

You can shop the Hanna Floral Poplin Maxi Skirt here.

If you’re local to Norman, you can shop this entire collection in-store at the Dillard’s in Sooner Mall! Otherwise, you can always shop online using the links above.

Which piece is your favorite?

Trend Forecast: Preppy Style

I briefly touched on this in my last blog post, but preppy style is back and I’m so excited to see its return! Button-ups, collegiate pullovers, tennis skirts, and headbands are the cutest combo right now, especially with Gen-Z. I went through a hardcore preppy phase when I was younger and I love that this is a more fashion-forward version of what I wore in high school.

I chose to layer my Oklahoma pullover on top of a classic white button-up. I matched the white stitching on the pullover to a white tennis skirt and added white Filas to keep my outfit looking sporty. I wanted to wear a fabric athletic headband but only had one in black, so I chose a black shoulder bag to tie in with my headband and the black Nike swoosh on my skirt. To give my pullover the slightest bit of structure, I lightly tucked one side into the waistband of my skirt. That little detail gave it such a cute asymmetric and casual hemline!

Pullover: Oklahoma Sooners Long Sleeve Crew Sweatshirt – Champion

I love this look for days where I have class on campus, game day, or really any day that I’m looking to show my Sooner pride! Will you be watching the Red River Rivalry game tomorrow? I know I will be!

Comfy In Corduroy: An OOTD

Fall is in full swing here in Norman, Oklahoma and that means it’s time for one of my favorite times of year: layering szn! Being able to transition summer outfits to fall is so fun and easy because sometimes all you needs is a comfy jacket of your choice. That’s what I opted for in today’s #OOTD- I got to break my favorite corduroy jacket out of the closet and use it to warm up my summery outfit.

Corduroy is one of my favorite fabrics for fall, and I’m so glad I have this jacket as a closet staple. I found it while thrifting on my 2019 spring break trip and I’ve been relying on it in the spring and summer months ever since. It’s a little oversized, which makes it perfect for layering.

Purse: Croc Embossed Baguette Bag – SHEIN

By the way, can we talk about how cute this white baguette bag from SHEIN is? I found this beauty while thrifting and it was still in perfect condition. Can’t wait to add similar styles to my collection, they’re the perfect size and are so trendy right now!

Trend Forecast: Steve Madden’s Amulet Black Booties

I need to be honest with you all- I wasn’t a fan of booties until this summer. For some reason, I always felt like whatever bootie I put on made my legs look shorter, and for someone with legs that are already on the shorter side, that was less than ideal. But then over the summer I purchased these white booties, and that was it- I knew I was going to need to get my hands on some black booties ASAP to round out my shoe collection.

These black booties from Steve Madden were floating around my TikTok “For You Page” a lot over the summer, and eventually (once my final paycheck hit my bank account) I knew it was time to take the plunge. They are almost exact dupes of these Gucci booties, but without the $1100 price tag. As a college student, I love saving money wherever I can and being able to get the look for $1000 less was absolutely amazing!

I have several friends that have purchased these booties as well, so I know they’re going to be a really popular shoe choice for fall 2020. I chose to style them with a white button-up, black skirt, and gold chain belt to coordinate with the gold encasing the jewels on the boots. I think it’s so chic and the booties definitely add a little bit of an edge to this feminine outfit!

SHOP THE LOOK:

Headband: Puffy Black Headband – Target
Earrings: Gold Hoop Earrings (similar)
Shirt: White Button-Up Shirt (similar)
Belt: Layered Ancient Coin Chain Belt – Forever 21
Skirt: Pleated Black Skirt (similar)
Shoes: Amulet Black – Steve Madden

A word of warning about the Steve Madden booties- they hurt like a b!tch until you finally have them broken in. They literally wore holes into my calves the first time I wore them. I’m actually not sure if I’m breaking in the shoes or if the shoes are breaking in me- either way, I’m excited to finally have them worn in enough to wear without needing bandaids!

Senior Photo Reveal: University of Oklahoma Class of 2020

The end of my senior year definitely didn’t go as planned. While I wasn’t able to finish out my undergraduate career at the University of Oklahoma on campus with my friends and peers, I knew I at least wanted some photos to commemorate my 4 years as an undergraduate. Since social distancing procedures were already in place by mid-March, I was unable to hire a photographer for a senior portrait shoot.

Luckily, my time blogging has given me loads of experience with iPhone photography, self-timers, and tripods! I got ready and loaded up all my gear early one morning and headed to campus. I love how they turned out, although trying to wrangle all the props with the addition of a cap/gown/stole/hood on my own was a hassle. (Also, do you realize how hard it is to take a cap-throwing picture on your own with a 10-second self timer? REALLY hard.)

I’m proud of my work on these pictures, and over the past 4 years as well. I can’t wait to experience virtual commencement and graduation with my family this weekend!

Feeling Frosty: Styling Denim-on-Denim

One of 2020s standout trends is supposed to be denim-on-denim. While I’m not quite ready to dive headfirst into a full-blown navy-on-navy ensemble, I dipped my toe in the water today by pairing my navy denim jacket with my black jeans. Baby steps!

I found this amazing Lauren Ralph Lauren white turtleneck at TJ Maxx the other day, and I am obsessed with it already. I love turtlenecks, sweaters, and especially combinations of the two, so I’m guessing I’ll be wearing this one a lot this season. I think it looks super classic, especially when paired with other neutrals and closet staples.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Jacket: Freeborn Denim Jacket – Target
Sweater: White Turtleneck – Lauren Ralph Lauren
Belt: Loop Belt – Target
Jeans: High-Waisted Rockstar Jeans – Old Navy
Shoes: Grand Court Sneaker – Adidas

What is your winter go-to item? Mine will always be a sweater or turtleneck, but I’m looking for more wardrobe staples to add to my closet. Let me know!

Rose Bowl Dreams

Happy game day, Sooner fans! Today OU is taking on UCLA in Pasadena, and I’m super excited to watch this game. I haven’t missed an OU away game since my freshman year, so it’ll be kinda weird watching it unfold on the TV screen, but I’m looking forward to watching it with my friends.

Today’s game is at The Rose Bowl, which pairs perfectly with this past Thursday’s #OOTD! I love this fun bodysuit and the rose embroidery on the sleeves. I’m also a sucker for pieces with a white hem, I think it makes them look so classic and put together.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Top: Rose Embroidery Black Bodysuit (similar)
Belt: Loop Belt – Target
Shorts: Denim Shorts – H&M
Shoes: Grand Court Sneaker – Adidas

What’s your score prediction? I’m feeling UCLA 24, OU 45. Boomer Sooner!

First Day of Senior Year

Wakey, wakey Upper East Siders. Welcome to the first day of senior year, and the onset of a new social dynasty.

Gossip Girl, Season 2: Episode 4

I almost can’t believe it- today is my last first day of my undergraduate career! I still have one first day back in my future, but somehow I feel like the first day of senior year is an even bigger deal. This time next year I’ll have a bachelor’s degree!

I’m always just as excited to pick out my first day of school #OOTD as I am to start a new school year. (AKA very excited- I actually love the start of school!) When I first did my H&M haul a few weeks ago, I put together this outfit and immediately fell in love. I knew it would be the perfect look for my first day back on campus, especially after a full week of basically existing in athletic gear for Pride Camp!

SHOP THE LOOK:

Earrings: Tortoiseshell/Gold Earrings (similar)
Top: Ribbed Crop Top – H&M
Shorts: Cotton Twill Shorts – H&M
Shoes: Gold Wedge Sandals (similar)

I’m so excited to see what this year brings. Can’t wait to share more of my senior adventures with y’all- stay tuned!

My Go-To Starbucks Drinks

I’m a morning person by nature, so I wouldn’t say I need coffee to function. But every morning, without fail, I make my breakfast that always includes an iced coffee from my roommate’s Keurig machine. When I’m wanting to treat myself (or just needing an extra boost a caffeine,) I hit up a campus Starbucks on my way to class.

Full disclaimer: I drink coffee for the taste, which means that my drinks need to taste like 80% sugar and 20% coffee. Black coffee or dark roasts are not my thing, so when you notice that my favorite drinks all stray from the genre of “traditional” coffee, that’s why.

1. Iced Caramel Macchiato

I am definitely an iced coffee type of girl. Unless the temperature outside dips below 20, you’ll probably only see me with an iced coffee in hand. My go-to drink at Starbucks is an iced caramel macchiato, since the milk and caramel sauce disguise the espresso when mixed properly. If I’m going to be up late studying at the library, this is usually the drink I pick.

2. ICED CARAMEL Cloud MACCHIATO

This Starbucks x Ariana Grande collab had me skeptical at first, but I quickly got addicted to these fluffy beverages once I tried one for the first time. (Yep, I said fluffy.) The iced caramel cloud macchiato is similar to a regular iced caramel macchiato, except it comes with layers of foam instead of milk. Personally, I think the foam is the best part and would easily order a whole cup of it if I thought I could escape without judgement from the baristas.

3. caramel frappuccino

This was my first introduction to coffee, so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. When I was in middle school, the “cool” thing to do on a Friday night was to go to the mall with your friends. It was during one of those escapades where I tried a caramel frappuccino for the first time. To this day, I’ll still order a caramel frappuccino if I’m on campus and my sweet tooth decides to show up in full force.

4. vanilla bean frappuccino

I warned y’all, I don’t actually like the taste of coffee all that much, and this one is a perfect example of that. The vanilla bean frappuccino doesn’t actually contain coffee, so I like to order this one when I want a sweet treat without the caffeine. It’s also something I discovered in my pre-teen years, so it’s a great nostalgia bomb as well!

5. hot CARAMEL MACCHIATO

Remember how I said I was an iced coffee gal? Well, on the rare occasion where it dips below 20 degrees, the hot caramel macchiato is my drink of choice. Like its iced counterpart, it also masks the espresso taste very well, which I greatly appreciate. If I’m wanting a caffeinated beverage before making a walk across OU’s freezing campus, I think about the well being of my fingers and opt for a hot drink instead.

In other news, this is my 50th post on Selfies & OOTDs! That’s crazy to me because I feel like I started this blog not that long ago. Thanks for reading, and I can’t wait to keep sharing my fashion and lifestyle content with y’all!

Stay Groovy

I am so excited to share today’s #OOTD with y’all! I have a feeling it’s going to become a regular in my wardrobe because it is so easy, versatile, and comfortable. It also vaguely makes me feel like I’m from the 70s, which is a time period that I love style-wise!

If you pay close attention to what I wear during my lifestyle posts, you may recognize this one from when I went biking in St. Augustine. I had my hair up in a high pony to keep my hair from flying in my face, and wore some gold hoops instead of a zodiac necklace, but other than that it’s pretty similar! I got these jeans when we went thrifting in St. Augustine earlier in the week, and wearing them makes me nostalgic for that trip. I can’t wait for summer!

SHOP THE LOOK:

Shirt: White Button-Up (similar)
Necklace: Scorpio Pendant Necklace – J. Crew
Belt: Loop Belt – Target
Jeans: Flared Jeans (similar)
Shoes: Gold Wedge Sandals (similar)

I love these jeans and hope to wear them with some more items soon as the weather continues to warm up! Stay tuned, because I’ll be posting another #OOTD soon.
