A Big Re-Leaf

Yesterday, I had a 10 page research paper due for my US-Latin American Relations class. I usually don’t mind writing papers, especially when I get to choose the subject matter, but for some reason I put that monstrosity of a research paper off until 10 hours before the due date. Thanks to some study tunes, the focused vibe of the Bizzell Memorial Library, and lots of coffee, I got it done with an hour and a half to spare. It was a real relief, for sure.

Since I was still feeling strained from all the brain exertion I put forth yesterday, I made sure to keep to a more laid-back #OOTD today to help me recover. It was a little toasty in my jeans, but comfy nonetheless!

Seas the Day

Yesterday, me and my crew rolled out of Norman at 5 a.m. and began the 21-hour drive to St. Augustine, Florida. The drive was rough, but we made it, and didn’t end up hating each other in the process. We finally arrived at our house at 2 a.m., exhausted but excited for the next few days.

Today it was a little rainy and cold, so we decided to forego the beach and go thrift shopping and grocery shopping. We may go downtown a little later, but for now we’re content at home making homemade pico de gallo (thanks, Rachel!) and watching the new season of Queer Eye.

Knowing that we were going to be out and about, I opted for an #OOTD that was simple, fun for spring break, and easy to get on and off when we went to the thrift store. I’m hoping we get some warmer weather soon!

Good as Gold

The weather yesterday was so good! Honestly, I feel like that was what I’ve been waiting for all winter. I know the nice temperature is short-lived, but that one 70 degree day put me in such a good mood. I even got to break out my new gold sandals, which I didn’t think I would get to wear for another week when I go on my spring break trip to Florida! I was so excited. This got me super looking forward to April and May when the weather is warm every day.

For my #OOTD yesterday, I paired my new kicks with some cropped skinny jeans and striped boyfriend tee, which kept me weather (and season) appropriate. I ran a bunch of errands yesterday, so I was super comfy as I drove around town for a few hours getting tasks done. @MotherNature, please stay a lil warmer so I can dress like this every day!

Dreaming of Spring (Break)

Even though today is the first day of March, in Norman the weather is still in full-on winter mode. We had an icy day that turned into an icy week, and today was the first day where driving around town seemed totally safe.

Desperate to forget the cold, I went shopping with my friend Jaycie for the spring break trip we’re both going on in two weeks. I got a ton of cute things, and I can’t wait to show y’all when the time comes!

Even though I was shopping for beach clothes, the current weather conditions dictated that I had to dress a little (or a lot) warmer than what we’ll experience in Saint Augustine. Wearing a lot of layers when you’re going different places and trying on clothes is kind of a pain, but I didn’t want to freeze, so I opted for a simple sweater/jeans/coat combo. I stuck with my Adidas sneakers so I wouldn’t have to deal with the hassle of taking boots on and off.

Jenny From The Block

Hey everyone! It’s time for another #OOTD post!

Today I’m heavily feeling my braids, as you can see. I thought they really pulled this outfit together (I usually wear my hair down.) I love the gold accents from my earrings and my belt and that the whole outfit is so delightfully neutral while also sporting an extremely bold print. (I also was told that I gave off Jenny from the Block vibes, which inspired the title.)

Extra, Extra!

You’re probably thinking, “Wait! This isn’t a regular mirror selfie!” And you’re right- I got creative today. I wanted to mix things up, and set up an elaborate way to prop up my phone and take a picture with a self timer. I like the result a lot!

Today’s #OOTD features my favorite hat I own, a velvet paperboy cap I got while on vacation in Miami! I had been wanting a hat like this for a while and was thrilled when I found it on sale at Zara. I think it really gives this outfit a funky vibe!

Red Velvet

Today’s #OOTD is really from yesterday, but I’m going to share it anyways!

Yesterday, I was heading to my sorority’s sisterhood retreat so I wanted to make sure I was comfy for the 2 hour car ride.

I love this red velvet sweatshirt because it’s so soft and cozy. I got it from Uptown Cheapskate and I think it’s meant to be a kid’s sweatshirt because it’s a size XL. (If it is actually adult sized, then frankly, I’m offended.) The black belt and jeans combo is a staple in my wardrobe that you’ll probably see pretty often. I wore my favorite black sunglasses on the ride down, too.

Shop the look:

Sweatshirt: Velvet Top – Daytrip
Jeans: Mid-Rise Rockstar 24/7 Jeans – Old Navy
Belt: Loop Belt – Target
Sunglasses: Cateye Sunglasses – Target
Shoes: Advantage Sneaker – Adidas

Welcome!

Ahh! I can’t believe I actually did it! I’ve been thinking of making a blog to house all of my #OOTDs for a while but I don’t know if I ever seriously expected it to come to fruition. I am so excited!

And now, I’m giving the people what they want: my OOTD!

Maybe one day I’ll have a better way to share my outfits than a traditional mirror selfie. But for now, it gets the job done.

Anna Wintour has famously said that all-black outfits are boring, but I find that couldn’t be further from the truth. I love having an all-black outfit underneath my brown winter coat- I think that the head-to-toe black fits nicely under the brown, but also can stand on its own.

Thanks for reading my first ever post on Selfies & OOTDs! Check back soon to see what I’ll be wearing next.
