Merci Beaucoup

With finals week just around the corner, I’m feeling super thankful that the end of the semester is rapidly approaching. This one has been a whirlwind, but I survived and that’s what matters!

Since my time on campus before I go home for break is limited, I wanted to get in at least one more #OOTD shoot before I head back to Frisco for the holidays. The weather cooperated this morning, meaning I got to break out one of my favorite all-seasons skirt and and a wintry flair with my beret! It always makes me feel très Parisienne and I thought it really complimented the rest of my outfit. (I also didn’t wash my hair this morning. Oops.)

I like hats, I just don’t know how to wear very many of them. Let’s mark this down early as one of my resolutions for 2020: experiment with different types of hats and other headgear in the coming year! (If you have a hat recommendation for me, I will accept it wholeheartedly.)

Back in Black

Hey there! It’s certainly been a while. I don’t know what it was, but midterm season hit me HARD this semester. Luckily, I think I’m over the hump- and now the great gear-up for finals begins! I know from experience that mid-October to the beginning of December flies by faster than I could ever anticipate. I’m working on planning ahead and staying on top of my work so that hopefully I’m not on the edge of a mental breakdown by the time Christmas vacation rolls around.

That being said, I’ve really missed sharing my daily outfits with y’all! The hiatus definitely helped my academics, but I was really missing this creative outlet. And after all, what’s the point of wearing a cute outfit if no one gets to see it?

SHOP THE LOOK:

Scrunchie: Black Scrunchie – Walmart
Top: Snakeskin Tank Top – Express
Skirt: Lace-Up Skirt (similar)

I’ve built up quite a queue of cute #OOTDs during my absence- can’t wait to show them to you all soon! The seasons are finally changing, which means things like riding boots, sweaters, and turtlenecks. Three of my favorite things!

thank u, next

Is it super obvious what album I listened to as I wrote this post?

This Ariana Grande tee is one of my latest H&M finds- I saw it and immediately knew it was meant for me. Her thank u, next album is full of bops, and “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” is definitely up there for me!

I’m a huge fan of black and pastel pink (it gives me Barbie vibes) so I knew I should pair it with my lace-up black skirt- possibly the only other item in my wardrobe that can rival this shirt’s sassiness. And what would a sassy #OOTD be without some hoops and a half-up, half-down pony? Incomplete. That’s what.

This Ariana tee definitely isn’t the only light pink item I picked up in my recent haul. I can’t wait to keep showcasing my finds over the coming weeks!

Trailblazer

Remember when I said I was dreaming up new #OOTDs when stuck in bed last week? This is one of them. I’ve been sitting on this blazer for a while, unsure quite how to style it. During my hours on bedrest, I decided to mentally go through my wardrobe and finally figure out the solution!

The answer deceptively simple. Since I work in an office with a casual-chic dress code, I knew I didn’t have to dress it up too much- in fact, I should probably focus on dressing it down. So, I paired it with a plain white tee, my trusty black jeans, and my signature Adidas. This look screams “woman on the go” while still being professional. I’m always trying to perfect the line between casual and presentable, and I think this fits that perfectly!

Seeing Red

Another internship #OOTD, this one from yesterday! It can get super cold in the office, so I had to bring a sweater to put over so I wouldn’t completely freeze. I like the outfit better without it, though!

I was extra cold yesterday because of the iced caramel latte that I had around 9:30. One of my fatal flaws is that I don’t lightly sip on anything (coffee, margaritas, etc.) so whenever I get a beverage, it’s usually gone in under 5 minutes. Normally not an issue, but about 2 hours after my latte I literally felt like I was going to die. I guess all the caffeine hit me at once, and I then had to deal with the consequences. (Note to self: please try to not do that again!)

I can’t believe it’s already mid June! I’ve been in Austin almost a month now, and have about a month and a half to go. Stay tuned for more #OOTDs, both internship-related and not!

Peachy Keen

Have I mentioned how much I love bread & Butter’s casual chic dress code? Probably, but I’ll say it again anyways. I refreshed and revamped my professional wardrobe before the move to Austin, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to not need it. Being able to look and feel like myself in my work environment is such a plus! (Also, can we just appreciate how perfectly my Apple Watch matches this #OOTD? I’m in love!)

SHOP THE LOOK:

Top: Short Sleeve Crew T-Shirt – Target
Overalls: Skinny Denim Overalls – Macy’s
Shoes: Advantage Sneaker – Adidas

Another reason I love my internship? It’s pet friendly! It seems like almost every day I have a furry friend to keep me company. Most recently, it was my mentor Mandy’s kitten, Napoleon! Not to be dramatic, but I would die for him.

I love this internship for so much more than just the dress code. I feel like I’m learning so much and really making a difference in this office! Can’t wait to see how far I’ve come by the end of the summer.

Back to Basics

I love wardrobe basics. While I also appreciate trendier items to jazz up my closet a bit, there’s just something so classic and timeless about a items that will never go out of style.

For this #OOTD, I made an outfit made completely out of wardrobe basics. A piece that has served me especially well is my denim shirt. Since it’s always a classic piece, I hadn’t realized how long I had had it in my closet. If you had asked me, I probably would have guessed 3 years. Well, I recently found a photo of me wearing it- from 2013! The moral of this story is that when you buy quality pieces, they’ll stick with you for years.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Bandana: Leopard Print Bandana – Hobby Lobby
Top: Long Sleeve Button-Down Shirt – Target
Belt: Loop Belt – Target

Do you have any basics that you swear by? I’m always looking to add some more classics to my wardrobe, so any suggestions are welcome!

Girls Night Out

This #OOTD is actually from Monday! It’s finals week (no, I did not wear this to my 8 a.m. final exam Monday morning) and I went out to dinner with some of my friends Monday night to celebrate the end of the year. We chose Torchy’s (a personal favorite of mine) and we had a great time! I loved the excuse to get dressed up, since finals week provides very little excuse for that.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Top: White Tube Top (similar)
Skirt: Back To School Skirt – Altar’d State
Shoes: Advantage Sneaker – Adidas

If you’re in the midst of finals right now too, good luck! Only a few more days, and then we’re on summer break. Hang in there!

Queen of Army Green

I’m traveling today, so today’s #OOTD post is actually yesterday’s! It was a little chilly in the morning but I knew it would warm up later in the day, so I wanted something with layers that could transition easily from morning to afternoon.

I love my black dress (I’ve featured several outfits with it before,) but something I don’t like about it as much is the lack of definition it gives me at the waist. By tying a jacket around, it allows me to cinch the fabric in at the waist area and give my look the definition it needs!

Bandana: Black Bandana – Hobby Lobby
Jacket: Army Green Jacket (similar)
Dress: Slub-Knit Tee Dress – Old Navy

I’m in my layover in Houston right now, headed to Corpus Christi for Easter weekend! I am so excited to see my family (and one of my dogs) and spend time with them through Sunday. I can’t wait to share our Saturday beach adventures with y’all, so check back for those!

Strait-Laced

I’ve been wanting to try out this look for a while, but haven’t had a chance until today! It was still a little windy, but since rain and a cold front are coming through tomorrow I figured it was now or never for this #OOTD. I’m so glad I took the chance!

By now, you all know what a huge fan I am of turtleneck and mock-neck shirts. I found this forest green one while thrift shopping in St. Augustine and was so excited to find a mock-neck item that I continue to wear into spring and summer (most of my other turtleneck items are long-sleeved or sweaters.)

SHOP THE LOOK:

Scrunchie: Black Scrunchie – Walmart
Top: Mock-neck Tank Top (similar)
Skirt: Lace-Up Skirt (similar)
Shoes: Advantage Sneaker – Adidas

Overall, this outfit was a little chilly with the wind, but otherwise perfect! Can’t wait to pair this mock-neck tank with some other spring clothing items soon. Stay tuned!
